What is a Residor – and why should I choose one?
Brought to you by the same people who manufacture Solidor, Residor is a range of affordable composite doors that are built with precision and beautifully presented, providing the detailing and design homeowners have come to expect from the Solidor name.
What is a composite door?
A composite door is made from a mix of materials but built as a single, solid unit, in the same way as timber doors. A Residor is what’s known as a GRP door – Glass Reinforced Plastic, more commonly known as fibreglass – with the outer layers consisting of two fibreglass skins bonded to a solid sub-frame with a foam core. The majority of composite doors have a woodgrain texture designed to imitate timber, and are glazed using cassettes.
Why choose Residor?
Like other GRP doors, Residors are manufactured by encasing a foam slab in a tough fibreglass skin. What sets Residor apart from the competition is the sheer thickness of the skin. At 3.6mm, it far out-performs every other GRP composite door on the market.
The Residor range is available in 16 different styles and comes in white, red, green, blue, black and anthracite grey. A range of beautifully patterned glass designs and hardware options is also available, providing a great solution for traditional and modern homes alike.
Residor composite doors are British-made – they’re manufactured in Staffordshire by the same team who are behind the Solidor brand. With 180 local employees, Residor represents the best of British manufacturing.
Are Residor GRP doors secure?
Very much so! When it comes to security, the 44mm thick door has a 3.6mm GRP skin that complies with the most up to date security test guidelines; most foam-filled doors on the market have a 1.6mm skin which offers a much lower level of security. Not only that, but every Residor comes with an anti-snap 3* Ultion cylinder as standard. Ultion are so confident in the strength of their cylinders that they offer a £1000 break-in guarantee! This robust design and superior high-security lock sets Residor apart from other foam core composite doors, giving you and your family peace of mind.
What about energy efficiency?
uPVC edge banding protects the door’s high density polyurethane foam core from water absorption and the high-impact resistant skin will keep your door looking like new for longer. This core also achieves an incredibly low uValue of 1.3W/m2k, making a Residor extremely thermally efficient. Not only are Residors extremely energy efficient, their foam core and thick GRP skin also helps to reduce unwanted sound.
