Not every installation is about replacing what came before. Sometimes it’s about getting the specification right from the very start – choosing glazing that does full justice to a new space before a single tile goes down or a wall gets painted. This Macclesfield extension is exactly that, a brand new build where the glazing was the first major decision and arguably the most important one.
The centrepiece is an AluK S140 lift and slide door in white, a four-pane system with two sliding panels operating in front of two fixed outer panels. The S140 is a premium aluminium lift and slide system – the kind of door that earns its specification. It operates with a reassuring smoothness that you notice immediately, lifting slightly on its track before gliding effortlessly, and the slim aluminium sightlines keep the glazed area as open and uninterrupted as possible. Floor-to-ceiling glass across the full width of the elevation means the garden becomes part of the room – even before the room is finished.
