This beautiful stone property sits proudly on the top of a hill in Mellor, Derbyshire. Surrounded by rolling hills and breath-taking views, our client provided us with a multi-faceted brief. Firstly, to construct a summer room connecting two parts of the property. The structure would need to comfortably withstand the weather and high winds that the location would naturally face through the seasons. Secondly, to transform the thermal performance of main body of the property while remaining faithful to both the age and material of the building.
To address the former, we recommended 6 pane SAS aluminium bifolds, with additional glass to the top to allow as much natural light as possible. The structure was engineered to withstand a higher wind load than normal, given the open aspect of the property.
The second part of the brief was met through a combination of windows by The Residence Collection, and doors by Solidor. Both of these collections have a strong traditional leaning, and helped us to meet the brief perfectly. All Items are anthracite grey on the outside, and white on the inside.
